Trang An was magical but the pick up was nightmare 7.0Dui or Peter, the guide, was very nice and he was doing the best he could. He is genuinely a nice guy. But the organisation of tour was.. appalling. They came earlier than the pick up time, so we were not ready and they said that they were not told that we were expecting them betweem 8:00-8:30. On the bus there were two people from other hotel, apparently they were on the bus since 6:30am! After an hour of touring Old Quater, the pick up bus came back to near our hotel, so there was no reason why we were hurried. Then by the time we started driving out Ha Noi Old Quater, they said that we were expected to be back around 8:00-8:30pm. We were astonished because we were expecting to be back around 7:00pm and enjoy our last evening in Viet Nam. The first half, visiring the newly built temple was a total waste of time for us because we have seen many best and oldest temples in Japan and Korea with proper history and artistic values in World Herritage sites. That place is only suitable for Asia beginners who have no idea what temples and Buddhism statues should look and feel like. We really really wanted to leave. By lunch time we wasted 5 hours. Lunch was OK, we talked with other passengers and that we enjoyed the most. The boat trip of Trang An UNESCO site was magical.

Mua Cave is a small cave on the mountain of Tam Coc area, this cave is not terribly impressive, but there are panoramic views from the peak above. A stone staircase beside the cave entrance zigzags through the karst (beware the goat droppings) and it’s almost 500 steps to a simple altar to Quan Am (the Goddess of Mercy). Look west for the Ngo Dong River winding through Tam Coc.
The Trang An is a scenic area near Ninh Bình, Vietnam renowned for its boat cave tours within a three-hour excursion by small boat along the lake, beginning at the tourist center of Van Lam and proceeding through a scenic landscape dominated by caves and karst towers. It is recognized as World heritage in 2014.
ITINERARY
8.00 AM: Pick up at your hotel in Hanoi, depart for Ninh Binh Tour towards to the South of Hanoi, it takes about 2,5 hours to get there(100 km).
10.30 AM: Arrive in Mua Cave, trek up to the top of the area to have a nice view of the Tam Coc area. Have lunch in the local restaurant.
After lunch, Drive to Trang An with a 20 minutes drive. Take an exciting boat ride in Trang An grottoes(World heritage site in 2014) that we will enjoy the spectacular scenery while gliding along the river among and ranges of limestone mountains peaking up towers over with the system of caves (3 hrs).
16.00: Return to Hanoi

8:00 - 8:30: Shuttle bus goes around to pick up at Old Quarter hotels to depart for Ninh Binh province (100km) for our day tour of Bai Dinh pagoda & Trang An ecosystem. We spend time to visit the Buddha Prayer place in Bai Dinh Pagoda, the biggest pagoda in Vietnam with 500 La Han statues, biggest bronze Buddha statue in Vietnam with 10 meters height, 100 tons weight.
Have lunch at local restaurant with some local special dishes such as Goat meat with elderberry, pork storage vessel.
Continue to visit Trang An Scenic Landscape complex nearby which recently recognized as an UNESCO World natural heritage, get on a rowing boat (small sampan) traveling along the small river with scenic mountain and green fields landscape. Boat takes you to visit cave complex of Trang An: Sang Cave, Toi Cave, Ba Giot Cave, Nau Ruou in mystery and wildness, the scenery of mountain and rivers – Halong on land of Ninh Binh.
Late afternoon, drive back to your hotel in Hanoi. End this tour of Trang An – Bai Dinh Pagoda around 19.30.
